Happy Halloween!

Our city held trick-or-treating last night so we have our Halloween pictures already.  This year - Snow White and a cowgirl fairy (all her idea).
Our neighborhood held a pre-trick-or-treating pizza party and costume parade.
Then, with friends in tow, they were off!  It was hard to keep up!  They ran hard and long and ended the night with very full buckets and a very late bedtime.  Success!
Boo, everyone!

Throwback Halloween

What a day! It was full of homages to Halloweens past when I was growing up on Country Place West Drive.

The girls started off the festivities dressed festively for the day. Lolo made the shirt Natalie is wearing for me over 20 years ago.
They enjoyed an afternoon tractor trailer ride with Papa Don shuttling sticks around the yard.  This was a favorite childhood activity for my sister and me.
After much shrieking and jumping, trick-or-treating time finally arrived.
Natalie had done a little pre-gaming with a Thomas story to get into character.
The girls rode around their neighborhood in their own Halloween chariot with fighter pilot driver.
While we were at our first house we ran into my childhood neighbor playmate and her two children (dressed as a cheerleader and a football). They joined us on our route.
While Audrey may have been confused about the whole concept at the outset she quickly figured out it involved a lot of free candy in exchange for mere cuteness and she was right on board.
At the end of the night the girls had bags full and chocolately smiles galore.
There may have been a lot of nostalgia for me there was also a wonderful newness to the day being able to watch the girls enjoy Halloween with their grandparents.  Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Natalie had a lot of fun on her first trick-or-treating outing. She was a Packers cheerleader. Halloween in WI though - it was in the 30s, so she's bundled up!

We went with the Olsons (our awesome new neighbors) who have adorable Ladybug Amelia (10 months). The girls loved riding in the wagon but seemed really confused about why people were giving them candy. Natalie said it was the strangest wagon ride we've ever taken. Amelia said her teeth work just fine for eating the candy through the wrappers!
